gapless playback and camera (xperia SP)

It seems that there is some delay between songs if I am using wired earphones connected through the 3.5mm jack. I can confirm that sp is capable of gapless playback because well.. it works when I am using bluetooth headphones. my Walkman app is version 8.1.A.0.3, on Android 4.3. I am not sure if it's a hardware issue or software.

Also my camera sometimes takes blurry pictures even if I press on the screen to focus on object, and keep the camera steady. It's really annoying. I can't check the version of the camera app.

After the 4.3 upgrade, the phone has been pretty **bleep** slow. I feel that overall my SP is a crappy phone now

Still no fix after Walkman update, starting to think this could be a hardware issue somewhere in line-out (3.5mm jack) which might be native to all Xperia SP. The gapless playback works seamlessly when music is played through Bluetooth speakers or onboard speakers on the phone itself, it is just when I listen to music through the 3.5mm jack, there is a pause between tracks. 

I urge other SP users to try this, find gapless songs and listen through the 3.5mm jack and see if you can notice the pause between the songs. the pause is about half a second..

Hi, I actually prefer some gap between songs but I wanted to try and see if it's the same with me and to my surprise almost all songs on the list ended with a little silence after searching for the right song to experiment sometimes it felt like gap is not there sometimes gap was obviously there. The thing is gap was more audible? when one track was in different format than other like mp3 to m4a. I might be wrong. But you should enjoy your music and not be bothered by something so small imo. I don't know your tracklist but I couldn't find a song that ends abruptly, they all have at least one or more slient second(s). The one I found was not really a song but something I made for a project so...

For camera I don't have such problems. If it's blurry it's probably because my hands shake. I suggest you turn on stabilization and take lower MP shots. It worked better for me but I don't really care too much about camera.

For the 4.3 update, I think it is a little rough the new bug fix is on the way. I found that phone is more responsive if I let it be. I don't even clear recent apps list. I stopped trying to free more ram when I read here that android ram usage is totally different. It still lags on some tasks but it's ok for now, hopefully new fix will actually fix something.

well in order to test the gapless feature, you will need to find songs that are meant to be played right after the last song... such as songs that are actually one composition but broken into more than one audio file (i.e. Dreamtheatre's Mirror and Lie). You can't just play any song and see if there is a gap between the songs or not......

Why so serious man, I'm the only one replied. And I've tested it for you, you are welcome. I now used live recorded concert mp3s and it's exactly like you said. No gap in speaker but when headphones are used the gap is there. Conclusion: Happiness. Maybe try your luck in Play Store.

seriously? so what if you are the only one replied? I don't give a **bleep**. why should I thank you even? don't be so butt hurt dude. So as you tested and there is a gap between songs, meaning a feature on this phone isn't working as Sony advertized. which is clearly a problem, big or small.

also if you don't have anything positive to contribute to the topic of this thread, move on.

I just felt your frustration in the dot dot dots you've put at the end of your reply and I only thought you could have been nicer. You shouldn't ask people to do someting if you don't give a **bleep** about it and if you're not gonna appreciate it.

uhhhh..what? I do appreciate people trying this out. I asked people to try the gapless feature, not asked to leave a reply to this thread. I don't care if you write 10 or 100 replies, they are just going to make my Inbox full.

It seems that you have comprehension issues, as evident by your last reply where you missed my point about not giving a jack, and your first reply, where you clearly did not understand what gapless feature is about and how to test whether it was working or not, and you decided to leave a reply that did not add much value to the gapless topic. Also you essentially said the gap is there but I should not be bothered? buddy, Sony advertized the gapless feature and it's clearly not working, this is obviously an issue, more than you think it is. So next time, i suggest you to read what other people have written more than once, give some thoughts, and look up things that you don't know before you leave a reply. Otherwise I appreciate you taking your time on this.

Update:

gapless issue still not fixed in Walkman 8.3.A.0.7. However I have noticed an inconsistency in the gapless issue. If I do the following:

1. get gapless music tracks

2. with headphones plugged through 3.5mm jack, play the gapless music tracks

then there is a gap of about 1 sec between tracks even though they are supposed to be gapless. However, now if I do the following:

1. using the same gapless music tracks,

2. first start by playing the music track through the phone speakers, with 3.5mm jack unplugged

3. plug in headphones with 3.5mm jack, and songs will continue to be playing through headphones, uninterrupted.

4. continue playing song into the next gapless track

then the gap between tracks is almost gone, although you will still notice a really faint hesitation between tracks. This suggests that there is a chance that this might just be a software bug. Whether it can be fixed or not is another question, But i will contact Sony and open a ticket for this gapless issue, hopefully Sony's QA takes note of this and do something about it.
