I have a issue where my Z3c will not rembering the password for certain wifi networks. Ive only noticed it happening at work and one of my friends houses. Other networks it remebers fine i.e. my house and local pubs etc. I recently upgraded from a Z1 and had all my data backed up to my google account which i restored when i set up my Z3c which makes this even more strange because all of the passwords were saved in my previous phone and worked fine.
I would imagine the first suggestion will be a factory reset, the only issue here is that im curretly on holiday so i wont be able to test it against the networks that have a known issue with.
Has anyone had an issue like this before and know of a solution?
Thanks in advance
Hi Briggsy, I'm afraid I can't answer your question but I can say I am experiencing the same issue and finding it very annoying! It is even doing it with my home connection sometimes and there's a danger I will end up unwittingly using my data allowance without realising it when I believe I'm on the wifi at home.
Did you do a factory reset in the end, and if so, did it work?
Cheers,
Mark
I just seen this issue as well as I am playing with hotspot and when going back to my home WiFi it is asking for the WiFi password again.
Sorry to hear that you're having issues with WiFi.
Hard to say for sure but this may perhaps be related to an issue with a Google backup that has been restored to the phone. They contain saved WiFi networks.
From what devices do you have backups on your Google account? You can see this under "Android" on https://www.google.com/settings/dashboard
But to see if this is the issue or not i'm afraid i don't know of any other solution then to delete the backups on https://www.google.com/settings/dashboard and then perform a master reset of the phone. You could also perform a master reset and disable the option to backup/restore with the account when you add it.
I understand that this may be an issue when you're on a holiday but would it be possible for you to test this?
Hi! I just wanted to say that I had the same issue. For me the issue occured when I turned wifi on/off or reset my phone i.e. every time my phone re-syncs my wifi network list from google. I also noticed that it was only the most recently added wifi networks that my phone forgot, so I cleared my stored wifi networks from the ones I did not use (100+ networks) and after this the networks that I've had issues with appeared in the list (after re-sync) and the problem was fixed. So it seems that my google account could store more wifi networks than my Z3 could handle and therefore the latest added networks did not show up in my stored networks.
Hope this helps!
