First battery charge

Hi Everybody,

Just got an Xperia X8 myself and I am wondering for how long should I leave it to charge...I've used up to the end the charge it already had out of the package and now, after reading a few posts on this subject I'm beginning to have 2nd thoughts on the salesmen advice: to leave to charge for 12 hours on the first time...

Can you please give me some advice?

I have to be honest I am the impatient kind and when I got mine I just shoved it on charge, started playing and took it off when it said it was 100%.  Since then I have just charged it when it needed it, if it gets left on overnight then so be it.  If I run out of charge in the day then I just charge it til I have enough to carry on with what I want.  I do pretty much the same with my X8 and X10 and have had no problems with either.

as I recall its recomended that after  you charge it 100% let it drain completely then charge it 100% and after that it doesn't matter how often you charge it for

Thanks Suze, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to start wasting the battery right away. I'll try that.

So there is no point in leaving it for 12 hours, is there? Mine is already at 100...

not at all, remember the more you charge your battery the longer it will last

Hi Jvmonteiro, a point to add, it's not so much on the time factor rather than the charge factor. Once it's 100% charged and it is good to go.

For your info, there is a charging cycle for the battery - charge to 100% - discharge - charge again once hit 90%. This cycle will continue until you pull out the plug (hopefully when 100%).

hi..

if i charge my battery over night, will it decrease battery life?
