I tried to update to .184 the other day but I'm on a Mac so I'm using Sony Bridge. (It won't let me download it wirelessly, dunno why)
When I use Bridge to update the software, it causes the phone to shut down while trying to detect it. The first time this happened it would only restart in safe mode and once I had restarted again most of my homescreen widgets wouldn't connect, my shortcuts had been moved around and it killed my wallpaper. (This is only cosmetic I know, but still annoying!)
Reading some of the discussions, I'm not particularly eager to update to .184, but I'd still like to solve the problem.
Thanks!
Do you have Bridge 3.0?
Can you elaborate on "it won't let you"?
to me it seems that it does update/repair your software, that's why the icons, apps, games, etc are moved around but the update it's not available to you, so it just reinstall the current firmware, turn on your wifi then settings > about phone > software update
