Hello-
I recently upgraded my Sony Xperia U from Android 2.3 to ICS 4.0.4. Ever since, I've been experiencing difficulties transferring files to and from my cellphone - adding or modifying music using MediaGo, and copying or deleting cellphone video using Windows Explorer. I am aware there are some posts elsewhere about USB connectivity issues but I have been unable to find a solution to the problem. I am able to connect the phone, and view its internal storage; but receive an error message about the device either having been detached or having stopped responding when I try to delete content. Two of the recommended solutions to this issue are altering the Connectivity setting in the Xperia settings - which is not an option, the section only listing trusted devices and offering an opportunity to install the computer programme - or activating USB debugging mode, which I have done without success. I believe that the issue is that I am unable to switch between MTP and MSC modes, and I am yet to find a solution allowing me to do so. I'm using Windows 7, and my phone is otherwise functioning well. Does anyone have any advice? I'm reluctant to get into rooting, which I understand might offer a way to change the USB connection mode at the command prompt level, but I am unaware of how to do this with the software. Any help much appreciated.
If possible, first try the phone on another PC to see if this is a phone problem or something with the PC.
If the problem also occurs on another PC and restarting the phone doesn't help i recommend that you repair the phones software and see if that helps.
If it works on another PC, try installing all available updates from Windows Update in your PC.
Xperia U only uses MTP, it doesn't have MSC.
