Few Doubts about my new Xperia Z3

Hello everyone, I've bought Xperia Z3 couple of days ago. As an old Xperia User, I have few concerns.

1. I currently have KitKat 4.4.4 ( 23.0.1.A5.77). I got a notification for new update of Lollipop. Should I update? or wait few more days to get stable version. My major priority is stable battery backup. How is the battery backup after Lollipop update?

2. I'm very much concerned about micro USB port flap. As Z3 is an Waterproof device, doesn't frequent access to flap loosen it and make phone vulnerable to water? I worried because my Xperia S 's flap got worn out in a year.

3. I've seen few blogs complaining about issues in first production batches like ones manufactured around September 2014 having few camera issues ( Pink Spot) and internal heating issues , which Sony fixed  them in later production batches. Is that true? Because I can see that my device is manufactured in September 2014.

4. My screen looks cold. I know that I can tweak White Balance. Any suggestions of setting it to be right? I don't know good RGB values.

5. I purchased my phone in India and this phone has too many unwanted bloatware( Like- Sony LIV, Sony LIV Sports, LINE etc...) they consume too much resources, any way to uninstal them?

6. Is it true that new battery takes time to perform in its full potential? What is the average On Screen time you guys are getting?

I know that those are too many question but please try to be polite. I'd be glad if I get good answers.

Thank You.

1. It'll be wise to perform a clean update, which means, it will delete all the apps and after doing so > reinstall lollipop, it will smooth things out, just like any update it will take few days for the battery and phone to adjust

2. wear and tear its innebitable, my suggestion, get a magnetic cable or use the Dock

3. the pink spot it's not a hardware issue, it's a side effect of having such a large sensor

4. that will be up to you to figure out which settings are better for you, do you have super vivid or X reality for mobile on?

5. flash a different firmware or root the phone and uninstall them

6 that varies on myriad variables, how bright the screen, is super vivid on, x reality, weather, etc.

1. Thank you. I'll do a clean install or wait. for 5.1.

2. Sure, I'm planning to buy new cable.

3. Thank you for clearing that out. How about heating issue?

4. I have X Reality for Mobile turned On.

5. I'm a Novice user. Don't know all those stuff of flashing. I fear I might brick it.

6. Okay, but just wanted to know how others are going with their battery.

Thanks @uliwooly for fast response. KUDOS.

5) restrict them running from the background.
1) upgrading is best... Lollipop is better though some silly issues are present. But they ain't a major problem.
2) no it won't wear out. But if you don't mind spending some cash then try to get your hands on the WCR covers... I guess it's WCR14 for Z3. Just check out if it's available in your location too.
3) I have no such issues. The pink spot will be seen if you capture a white surface close with flashlight on. You can check that.
4) the default values are always right. Better don't mess it up.. For a pinkish or greenish display. Sony is the perfect white display module.
6) battery is good.... Screen on..... Will have to check 😛

Heating issue, not quite an issue, its normal if you play a lot of games or watch a lot of videos, the phone will get hot, and if the weather happens to be hot, well, it'll get hot faster. Also, keep in mind that having poor network coverage will use up your battery a lot faster.

Yeah, frequent opening and closing the usb port will wear it out. If you look on amazon.com you can buy inexpensive magnetic docks or cables as @uliwooly suggested. Check out the magnetic chargers for the Xperia Z3 by Bessky, they work well.

Will the Charging Dock/ Cable charge  in same speed of USB charging. ( I will use In the box adapter for magnetic charging cable).

Which will charge faster USB or Magnetic Charger( Connected with in the box adapter)

Thank You.

The magnetic cable will take longer than a micro USB cable.
