Fastboot issue Windows 8

I have rooted my xperia s and i want to install a custom rom but my phone refuses to go into fastboot. When i plug in the cable and hold the Voulume + button, the light goes blue for a split second then it just goes into charging mode. On my device management the device shows up as a removable device and thats it. I've tried to update the drivers with the fastboot drivers and windows 8 stops the installation with "Windows has dectected that the drivers are up to date"

I've seen many people with this issue. Anyone got a fix?

Have you told your device manager to look in the fastboot folder for the modified drivers?

Yes, if i select the folder windows stops the installation. Very frustraiting. I'm not even sure if i've got the drivers in the right folders or even the right drivers. Do you have any links? There is so many links out there to drivers that i don't even know what ones are correct anymore haha

Now what do i do with this file? Do i boot my phone into fastboot and try to run the drivers. Do i put the drivers in my fastboot folder in my C: drive?

Open device manager - boot your phone in fastboot mode when it says in device manager that either the phone is connected or it says theres a driver issue normally denoted by a yellow mark you then have to right click the issue and then left click update driver in the options choose the manual method to locate and install and direct it to the usb_driver folder - It should then update and install the correct driver

I've tried that, there is apparently no issue with the device but it is showing up as a mass storage device. When i click update drivers and select my drivers windows tells me that it is allready up to date and stops the install. My phone on the other hand is still on charging mode (orange light)

Delete or uninstall the driver - Unplug then reconnect your phone in fastboot mode and try again - That is how to install the right driver unless it's not compatible with win8

i uninstalled the device when it was in fastboot and i pluged it back in on fastboot and nothing happened. The device isn't showing up at all. There is no way to install the diver now. Any thoughts?

open device manager - connect phone in fastboot mode then right click any device listed in there and then left click Scan for hardware changes - it should then see the device and ask or tell you about the driver installation
