extra number in contacts, 'Myself'

I have had a Z2 for a couple of months now and have just noticed an odd thing about the contacts list. There is an unrecognised (and non working, as far as I can tell) mobile number in the 'Myself' entry. I am able to input my correct phone numbers but I cannot remove this incorrect one.

I have tried deleting it and I have tried editing it, all to no avail. It is still there after I have 'Done' editing.

I do realise that there hasa been a thread before about this:

However, most of these entries date back to 2011 and all of the offered solutions involve placing the SD card into an old phone. This is not an opion for me as my previous phone does not have the micro type of sd card.

But anyway, as this problem has existed for so long shouldn't Sony have come up with a fix of some kind by now? Perhaps something involving a software update instead of messing around with old phones?

A little disapointing considering this is a fairly new model.

Your phone book is probably linked to your Google account. 

I would recommend going into Google Contacts (through GMail if you like) or Google+ on your PC and editing them in there.

If you can't delete or edit this wrong "Myself" Contact from Google Contacts or Google+ then there must be another issue to look at.

On my Z2 the Myself contact definitely brings up my G+ details.

Myself number cannot be edited,the options was in older Sony Ericsson phones only and I think the SIM must support that also.

This is incorrect, I added a number this morning before answering the OP. I have also just been able to change my name, add new numbers and other fields.

I can also remove all numbers which the OP seems to be having difficulty with,

Hit the myself contact and in the top right you will see the pencil edit icon.

Which has its own problems - mine has forever been blank.

That will be blank,you need as I said a SE phone to edit it(it might be possible with Nokias or other phones too).

I do thank you both for your suggestions, its certainly quite perplexing.

I wonder, Martin27, if you would mind being more specific in your instructions regarding either the gmail contacts option or the Google plus one.

Its just that I get quite confused whenever I look at Google plus and can't make much sense of it,  but also I have looked at gmail but can't find  a 'Myself' type of entry anywhere.

I apologise for my ineptness and greatly appreciate your patience.

Hi, if you tap CONTACTS......then tap MYSELF......then top right there is a symbol that looks like a HEAD/SHOULDER with a pencil....from there you can add/delete whatever details you need.....then press DONE at the top left...
