Exchange Folder Sync

Hi there,

Been using Sony phones since X10 and currently using XZ.

Couple of questions...

1. I would like to know how can I setup Exchange/Corporate email client such that I can sync and notified of emails in the sub-folders?

2. When STAMINA mode is turned on, the notification light shows white colour only regardless of the application settings. Eg. In Whatsapp I've set as to show blue, but when screen is turned off, it shows as white colour and the moment you press the power button it turns as blue. Is it a bug or something?

I'm using Android v4.1.2 / .253 software version.

Thanks.

I'd have to research this but I very much doubt that you can do what you are asking, linking the default email client to a MS Exchange server would require integration to a level that is not supported

Now there may be email clients on the PS that can do this - I believe there's one called outlook - I'll take a look, perhaps you can research this also

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.outlook.Z7&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLD...

Thanks for your answer.

Outlook.com application is for Microsoft's own exchange solution (Office 365, Hotmail, etc.) and not for corporate.

So you are saying that the default email client bundled is usless? Why would Sony need to keep it then? Thinking_Face

I've never explored it but I'd have assumed that the outlook android app can interface with MS Echange server in a corporate environment - isn't that what you are asking for

I did try out that application and it wouldn't connect to corporate enviroment (the Exchange server hosted in your office and not in the cloud).

Nope, My question is how can I setup the default email client so that I can sync (push email) and get notified when email arrives in the subfolders as well. I've server side rules which moves the emails to their designated subfolders. All I managed to do is to setup the default email client to sync and get notified when an email is in the inbox.

from what I understand the default email client with android is basic so you've probably already streched to it's limit

Although I no longer have a corporate email (retired) I'm pretty sure you will find one that supports your needs - very surprised the Outlook doesn't

Yea, Outlook.com application doesn't support.

There are couple of applications out there in PS, but the point is,

1. They aren't free (they are actually quite expensive).

2. They doesn't integrate the calendar into stock (they usually have their own calendar), which makes you to have multiple calendar widgets for you to look at.

I mean, I don't see a point why Sony haven't taken initiative to do this basic subfolder sync and notify or at least provide an application that can do the stuff for free!

isn't the email app from google ?

if you are using corporate email surely your company should be footing the bill and even doing the install for you - why are you having to do this on your own - just asking  Neutral_Face

and why should Sony be providing you with a corporate email client for free - it's actually not their business - just saying Neutral_Face

anyway hope you get it sorted

The APK named as "SemcEmail.apk" which suggests it could be a modified version of Google's.

Well, you might be right in certain companies, but people buy Smartphones is to use it as a Smartphone. Corporate email support is one of the essentials in the current trend. I remember when I first bought X10, it was bundled with Moxier Mail (paid) which does this job pretty decently. But when I upgraded to the next android version, it was removed.
