I am loving my Xperia tablet z but unfortunately I am experiencing an error with the lockscreen clock widget. I am using the latest firmware on 4.2.2. The problem only occur when an enterprise Exchange Active Sync account is used that forces a pin-code on the tablet. The lockscreen clock widget is being sized wrong making parts of the clock squared off. It looks really cheap and buggy. I am also unable to add other lockscreen widgets.
This should be able to be fixed with a minor software upgrade. Can you please look at this and fix it?
Thank you for an otherwise great tablet experience!
When you use ActiveSync it's possible for your IT-department to control certain features in your tablet using policies. They can for example enforce a PIN-code, enable encryption, disable the camera, wipe your tablet and turn off lock screen widgets.
The reason that you can't add widgets to the lock screen and that the clock has changed is that your IT-department have disabled lock screen widgets in your tablet using a policy on the exchange server. The default clock on the lock screen is a widget and when lock screen widgets are disabled you will get a standard clock instead that doesn't look good in landscape.
I can forward the feedback regarding the way the non widget lock screen clock looks like but regarding widgets you need to ask your IT-department to enable this from the server.
Thank you for your answer!
Yes, I know what Exchange ActiveSync means and I could try to ask my IT-department to accept lockscreen widgets. But still, the lockscreen widget obviously has a bug since it does not render right 50% of the time. There are a lot of users who are completely unable to influence their IT department's decisions and those users should still be able to have a bug free OS on their tablet.
Please send this to your software development team so that it can be fixed.
The lockscreen clock alternates between a small clock and a large one that regularly is too big for its frame and cuts off at the sides. It is 100% reproducible, and occurs alternately. I.e. turn off, wake it up and the clock is small, turn off wake it up the clock is big, etc..
Yes our customisation is restricted due to lock screen lockdown from Exchange ActiveSync policies, but the DEVICE is incorrectly rendering the clock 50% of the time. I have other Android devices with the same Exchange accounts that do not alternate BIG / small / BIG clocks on unlock screens.
This. Is. A. Bug.
