encryption

Hi.
My old mobile has been stolen, so, i'm worried about my new one (Xperia M) because egypt is not safe these days..
I activated MyXperia.. But anyone can take the mobile and deactivate it easly..
So, i saw the encrypt option and i wanna know what exactly it is before doing it and what do you advice me to do?

The encrypt option will encrypt your data and require an PIN to allow the users to access the information.

The only way to get past an encrypted phone is to reset it, but then all personal data will be lost.

So, it's just going to set a password on my data and settings and ask me to insert it every single time i open gallery or messages or stuff like that?
