email inbox will not open

email inbox will not open and get message that "Application Email (processcom.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. How can I resolve?

it might be a taskiller and/or antivirus, you do not need those apps, uninstall them

Don't know if I have these apps - have not downloaded them.

Interestingly today I can open the inbox but it will only allow me to scroll down the messages to a certain point and then comes up with the error again. I am wondering if one of my emails contains something bad.

Just an additional thought, have you tried a mail app from the market?  I use K9 but Maildroid is also very good too.  This may help you download your emails beyond the problem point.  It might also be worth checking your POP3 settings with your mail provider to make sure that they allow you to download what you want eg time, no of emails etc.
