email app deletes also in server

Im new to z1 compact and android in general. Have been able to create email account without problem.

incoming settings are imap

outgoing settings are smtp

when i delete an email from my email app (as supplied with phone) it deletes the email from my email provider account also.

there is no tick box or option in settings to turn off or on the server deletion.

any ideas?  should it be a pop3 setting for incoming ?

any thoughts would be appreciated.

Try this: Main Menu > Email > Menu Button > Settings > Tap on the account name > Incoming Settings > Alter the "Delete email from Server" setting.
