Hey everyone,
So the other day my phone (Xperia Z3) was working perfectly fine. I was able to hear people on phone calls and noise came from that speaker. The next day, the speaker was completely silent when i tried to talk to someone and the only way i could do this was by having speaker phone enabled so it would come out of the other speaker. Now i don't know about you, but it's a bit awkward out in public.
Firstly, i have had my screen replaced before, by a third party repairer who i have been to for all other phones, and when i got it back, the ear speaker was distorted if on the maximum volume when listening to music or watching videos, so i never have it on full volume. Unfortunately, because i went to a third party repairer, Vodafone will now have to charge me for the repairs so i want to try as many things as possible before i have to fork out a bunch of money to get it repaired.
I've restarted the phone but have not done anything else since the phone is only 3 months old and hasn't been backed up yet.
Can anyone suggest anything other than banging it on the counter (my boyfriend thinks it could be a loose connection).
Thanks!
Hi Ameewartooth,
Welcome to the community.
This could possibly be a software based issue, try clearing the Smart Connect app.
Menu > Settings > Apps > All > Smart Connect > Clear Data.
If this does not work, try a safemode boot and let us know if the issue persists.
I too am getting this problem, I think since the Android L update, or soon after.
I've tried resetting data on the Phone apps (I seem to have 2 for some reason) and on Smartconnect.
I've tried a factory data reset too.
Nothing seems to work.
On a call, the ear speaker doesn't work.
Headphones or bluetooth headset does.
The external speaker also works.
On diagnostic tests, the ear speaker works fine so it's not hardware.
I tried safe mode as your comment, but that didn't work either.
Any advice?
