Dropping in call volume

I know many have complained about phone call quality (which is poor)...

...but since my update to 17.1.1.A.0.402 during a call the ear-piece can become quiet to the point where I can't hear the conversation and then will come back to normal volumes again. It will do this many times during a call and it is making phone calls unbearable.

I live in a stronh 3G area and have a new 3G/4G SIM. No other phone has given this issue so I assume it is the Z2.

I have swithched off all of the EQ settings, Clear Voice etc all off.

Before someone tells me to carry out a software repair (LAST RESORT!) is there anything else to try?

I have the same issue but it doesn't sound (no pun intended) as yours.

I'll place a call, and after a few rings there is a noticable drop in the earpeice volume. Ordinarily this isn't a problem, but when there is a lot of surrounding noise it makes it very hard to hear the other party, even on the highest volume. All said and done though, it doesn't happen on every call and it doesn't come and go during the call.

I've just decided to put up with it and wait for the Z3 to come out.

So I carried out a software repair (.402 version) and it is still as bad as ever.

I have 2 options, send off to Sony and be without a phone for x amount of days/weeks or buy a new phone, hope the Z2 gets fixed and sell it to keep the new one. Oh, 3rd option wait to see if I get the latest update (17.1.2.A.0.314) soon and hope that fixes it.

The strange thing about this earpiece issue is that it seems to be related to the main microphone. If I speak then the earpiece volume is restored, albeit temporarily.
