IF I downgrade back to 10.1.A.1.434 from 10.1.1.A.1.253 using firmware I downloaded from the xda-developers website and install the firmware using the flashtool. Also my Xperia ZL has a locked bootloader so will I still get OTA (Over The Air) updates please?
yes you wil definitely get if you are on stock. but make sure you dont unlock your bootloader
I have not unlocked my bootloader so thanks you your response.
if you want to unlock bootloader there is an option to backup your TA partition using a tool. so that when you restore it your phone will have locked bootloaders with DRM. so it wont affect anything.
I have no intention of unlocking bootloader yet you said I can backup but losing the mobile bravia engine and walkman totally functioning.
Another question what do mean by stock I downloaded a (6503) 10.1.1A.1.434 firmware but it did say customized from xda-defvelopers website so is that okay and stock firmware please?
Thats what i said if you backup TA before unlocking and restore it later everything functions as it should. no loss.
if it is ftf file no problem it is stock. stock kernel with stock system is stock firmware. customisation refers to place like nordic, UK, US etc. no worries you can flash it using flashtool.
It's true that you can backup your TA partition before unlocking your bootloader (by first rooting your phone without bootloader unlock and then using the tool Backup-TA). By restoring this backup after unlocking your bootloader, the bootloader will be locked again and the DRM keys (for Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, Music ID/Gracenote, etc.) will be restored, but your warranty will still be void, as your IMEI number gets on Sony's "no warranty" blacklist when requesting a bootloader unlock code...
i dont think so because, earlier i had an xperia phone where i didnt unlock till the warranty period was completed but i had recieved the unlocking code soon. so there are cases where it is possible that people dont unlock till the warranty period is completed but only recieve the code. could anyone from sony please confirm?
And did you ever send your phone in for repair during the warranty (after requesting the unlock code)?
On Sony's bootloader unlock website, before entering your IMEI number have to agree that your warranty will be void.
yes true, but they had only mentioned that it may be void. not that it will be void. yes only for minor software issue they approved warranty. it would be better if someone from SONY confirm it.
