Does Xperia P have a screen protector after removing the screen protector with instructions ?

Hi all,

I have an xperia P and when i initially opened it from the box there was a screen protector with instructions which i had to remove as it was blocking the screen.

when i closely examined the screen edges there was another screen protector , i want to confirm if this is a "screen protector" or the actual screen itself ?

I am from india and the phone bought from Bangalore, India

I need help so that if it is not a screen protector i will buy one right away

Thanks.

Hello

No, I said:  "Xperia™ phones sport a  "Hard coated shatterproof sheet on scratch-resistant glass"." not the Gorilla glass one.

best regards.

Francis.

Hi

I have done considerable amount of research on the screen and the protector on the Sony Xperia P and when i took some time of at a store to review Xperia P i did use plastic objects to test the screen along with that i did put the phone in a handbag with coins and other material and found out that the screen had taken some light scratches

So my conclusion is this - it is a screen protector to avoid the actual glass screen from breaking, it is called hard coated shatter proof sheet on actual glass.

It does get scratches and please all of you should buy a screen guard

I went for "rainbow" screen guard it was costly Rs.200 it was fully transparent one and not the matte finish(which makes the screen dull !!! )

Hi Francis,

It is very unfair to spend Rs.25,000 ($446) on a smartphone like Xperia P when it does not come with "gorilla glass"

Nokia N8, Samsung S II, Moto Razr etc... all have "gorilla glass" and Xperia P doesnt have !!!

what quality of material is being used on the glass screen ? which brand ? and is it worth it ?

could you give some info ?

Hello Depankar

The Xperia P has a scratch resistant glass plus a protective film to prevent shattering.

The Gorilla Glass is not a type of glass but a trademark of Corning®

Best regards

Francis.

Why dont we have scratch resistant glass exposed to fingers and shatter proof protective film on the other side, that will serve the purpose ?

I think .

recently bought Xperia P and i have encountered NONE of the issues mentioned in the forum

as of now !!

Hi guys,i got a scratch on my new Xperia P,the scratch is vertical and it's height is about 3mm,and wide about 1mm or less.My question is can it be removed somehow from the anti-shatter laminate sheet,or if i put the screen protector that camed with the Xperia box,the scratch won't be noticeable or maybe some third solution. Thanks in advance

Dear Support,

so glass below screen film is also scratch resistant or only this film is its function? I scratch it badly I would like to know if I simply remove it or I should replace it?

Regards,

Kolma

Hello!

Yes on Xperia P there is a protective film. I've change it myself. I just bought new one from Ebay and removed old one with knife (in the corner) just to unstick and then remove it by hand. Now it is like new one.
