Distortion in music

I have not seen this raised before, but I am noticing now, since updating to 4.0.4 on my Xpreia Pro, that I have a lot more distortion on the base line, than when on GB.

It doesn't seem to matter if xLoud is on or off.

Same music, same headset, sme presets.

Just wondered if I am the only one to notice this?

I'm using the stock player, preset set to 'classical' (not that I play classical, it just gives the cleanest sound IMHO), as it was on GB, but I also get this with out presets too.

I do not play the music at full voloume, I like my hearing and don't wish to loose it

I just doesn't seem to cope with bassy music like it used to.

Any thoughts?

I have experienced this issue on the xperia play when playing Van Halen. It only occurs with this artist and i have sent it to another phone, played it through google music and played it on the PC to test it but it is still distorted. On the PC its perfect but on the xperia play, no matter what media player, it's distorted.
