Disappointed with camera

Hello

So I've switched to an android after years with iPhone.

Overall happy with it..

BUT the camera.. I can't believe the difference.

I have in 4-5 days not been able to take one good sharp photo.

If the light is dim (for example inside) my photos look pixelated and unfocused, and if there is good lighting (outside in the day) I get sharp but overexposed photos.

I bought Camera Zoom FX by recommendation but it still is nowhere near the iPhone's.

I have been googling a lot and overall the phone's camera got really good reviews. What am I doing wrong?

The problem is not you, but the camera software ... does not work well! with little light and horrible! I regret the iphone 4 ... is ridiculous this service ...

I do not understand how someone can do positive reviews on the camera! disappointed!!

You are not doing anything wrong as all of us, Z1C owners, suffer from the same camera symptoms: Grainy pixelated pictures, bleeding flash, no resolution between the 8 MP and the 20.7 MP (Personally I don't believe this is a 20.7 MP).

I only hope it's a software issue that Sony is seriously intending to solve. The camera was my main motivator when I was hesitating between LG G2, Nexus 5 and Z1 Compact... This is so infuriating!

Well MHallback, for that exact shot you posted I would have used a slightly different setting and HDR... Since the dog, and girl's faces are under high contrast situation...

I agree that Sony camera software is not the best at optimizing pictures for every situation, specially indoor... But if people bother to learn just the basics of photography, the results can be outstanding...

I am an Amateur at most when it comes to photography but I have been learning.... Yes, the iPhone is actually a very good camera phone but it is bare bone when it comes to shooting specific settings... (with stock software).

I am aware of all this. Have been photographing and developing analogue photos since mid 90s.

HDR does help a bit.

But taking photos with phone is mostly about spontaneity. Which is totally lost if I need to spend minutes setting the right settings first.
iPhone's automatic settings are much superior.

Right now you have more probability to take good photos in manual mode than in auto. Unfortunately...
