Hi,
I'm looking at the differences between the 16GB and 32GB Xperia Z tablets (model numbers SGP311GB and SGP312GB) and apart from the differences in memory (obviously :smileysmileywink:) there doesn't appear to be anything else.
So, this begs the question what benefit does the internal memory have over an SD card - if I wanted 32GB I could buy the 16GB model and put a 16GB SD card in cheaper than the £50 difference between the two models.
or, have I missed something less obvious.
Thanks
You can not move apps/games to the SD card, so if you have a lot of heavy games/apps you will need the extra storage
Ah ha, I see :smileysmileythumbsup:
Another thing I have just thought of is navigation. It says in the documentation Google Maps requires an internet connection. I believe Google Maps is the basis of the navigation as well? So, does this mean i'll need an internet connection for navigation? If this is the case the next question is can I pair this with an HTC phone?
thanks for your reply.
You will need an internet connection to use any navigation apps, call it google maps or any other app, and yes as long as your carrier/network allow you to tether your data plan, you should be able to do it
Just a couple of questions before I buy the more expensive but fast SanDisk :
1. If one can't move apps/games to the micro sd cards , what is then the purpose of that sd card actually ?
2. Does the xperia tablet Z recognise the SanDisk Extreme PLUS microSDHC™/microSDXC™ UHS-I Card 32 GB ?
( read also somewhere is needs to be formatted FAT32 for xperia tablet Z , and does that not restrict to 4GB blocks )
Thanks
1. The Main function of an SD Card is for media data such as photos videos, music etc.
2. The Tablet Z supports microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC up to 64GB.
The FAT32 format will restict the size of files you can move to card.

Thanks for the very clear answer , I bought the xperia tablet Z for my wife's birthday last week and did choose the 32 GB model to make sure there's enough space for apps . ( when there would have been a 64 GB model , would have bought that one ) .
( when going into system specs , it shows 25 GB though )
So a fast(er) SD card would only benefit for playing HD movies which are stored on that card but then there is an issue that the format ( FAT32 , didn't know that still existed ... ) of that card restricts the size ( and lenght ) of movies . What a shame for such a nice tablet actually .
Can one buy movies in the right format for the tablet Z ( am a semi-pro video editor , using the excellent sony vegas pro , sony soundforge pro , acid pro for many years ) .
Am living in Belgium and apparently the movie service of sony is not available here ( for rent and/or buy ) .
As I understand it, the hopefully-soon-to-be-forthcoming lollipop update should restore the ability to move apps to SD. It is certainly something that has been provided for in lollipop itself, I can confirm that it works on other makes (Moto E 4G, recently bought as a stopgap phone) and it has been reported as being included in the Z Ultra update....
