data connectivity not working

folks,

suddenly since yesterday, my xperia ray does not seem to connect to network (voice calls are fine).

When I enable data connection, the icon that appears at the top does to indicate internet access not show up now.

When I enable data traffic the icon appears for a second and then disappears.

Can someone provide some clues about the issue?

Try uliwooly's suggestion and also reboot the phone to see if that might help.

I tried this and see the same issue. I have re-started my phone multiple times.

I will try to call up my service provider if it is something to do with issue on their side.

PS: I paid my bill late this month but in such a case I should not be able to make voice call also.

just fyi for video calls you need a data plan or wifi connection, android does NOT support traditional video calls, neither iOS

go to settings > wireless and networks > mobile networks , and select your operator manually...

if you are using 3g connection then select the 3g from the list....

I tried this and dont see it helping. I can see some upload and download activity for sometime and then it disappers. After sometime I do see a message that says - could not download settings ...

hmm then you should try to check with a different sim or contact your operator..
