Current Problems with Z2

Friends,

I wanted to make a decision to buy new phone.....shell I go for Xperia z2 or not. Please help me list problems if you are facing with your xperia z2.

I am on my third Z2 and this one has an annoying hissing from the earpiece and the caller complains about cuts and noise when they talk to me!

1: Z2 I had for 15 minutes but then I saw it had a badly alligned front glass. Went to the store and got it exchanged for another.
2: Z2 had a large dust particle inside the protection glass for the camera and a very blurred lower left corner on the photos. Furthermore it recorded 4K with sound and video out of sync and overheated after less than 3 min when recording 4K. It also had a hissing noise from the earpiece during calls. It also had a bug so when I adjusted the volume during use of the walkman app the app stopped playing. I sent it in for repair waited 17 days and my operator choose to give me a new phone since Sony had sent my phone back unrepaired. Lousy service from Sony and Kudos to Telenor which is my operator.
3 and current: Annoying hissing noise from the earpiece during calls. Caller complains of cuts and noise during calls. It also has the bug where adjusting the volume during use of the walkman app makes the app stop playing. I did not test how long it can record 4K before it shuts down but the sound and video is synchronized properly. Anyway the camera still has a heat issue because after 2-4 minutes of use the camera closes because it is overheating to be more specific the temperature in the device raise from 33 degrees Celsius to 43 degrees Celsius in only 1 minute!!!! And the camera shuts down at around 44-45 degrees Celsius. So the phone also have lousy cooling capabilities.

All in all Sony did not test this phone before they sent it out on the market's or they have a lousy quality control or hughe problems with the production which then introduced errors and malfunctions in the phones. The only thing that works well with this phone is the lies and bragging about how great this phone. Lies we can read on Sonys sites.

As you can see this forum is full of product bugs.

There is even a thread named "Bugs", where someone keeps burying issues (it happened to my messages twice).

It's really worth looking at.

My opinion is to stay away from it. It promises the world and delivers very little.

Some people claim to not have any issues, but since there are so many people that do experience big issues, it seems to be a gamble as Sony quality control department seems to be on holiday.

Also, with firmware updates nowhere in sight for most people, you'll probably be stuck with a problematic device for quite some time. Even worse, people fortunate or unfortunate enough to get the firmware, seem to have varying levels of success with their issues.

People seem to have some issues, mostly with echo during calls (which I don't have afaik). From what i've read this forum since I got my Z2 people don't have THAT many problems with it. Probably not more than any other model/manufacturer. Some of the early weeks' phones had some body issues like flaps not fitting perfectly (got this myself, my sdcard flap goes a bit deeper on the other side). It's a great phone to use though. I'd get it and open it the second I got out of the store and check that everything looks/feels PERFECT on the outside. Flaps, front and back glass don't have gaps, no dust under camera lens and such.

I know you shouldn't have to do this stuff when you get a 600-700EUR phone, but that's what it is now. Even after all this I still feel that I made the right choice when the competition is Samsung, HTC and cheapish G3

We have 4 Samsung devices 1 tablet and 3 Galaxy S4's and I never experienced such problems. They just work and works right out of the box without any error correcting software updates. And before I am called a Samsung fanboy. I have a Sony TV Sony ES Stereo from 1995 and all works flawlessly. Only Sony products I have had issues with is the ones Sony bought into ie. Sony Alpha cameras wich was Konica Minolta and Sony Mobile wich was Ericsson.

DONT BUY Z2.. Buy anything else, seriously!
HTC one M8, or S5 should be good choices. Choose M8 if you want badass sound, and S5 if you want water resistant.
