Cracked Screen

It appears the screens on these phones are somewhat fragile and in some cases require no prompting to crack, I'm ecstatic to know that although with several iphones i have had no issues but have 2 broken screens now on these.   Now if i bother to repair it i will need to baby the thing around, cracked screen means not warrantied.   What is your suggestion to get any form of usage without the screen cracking, I have a year before I can upgrade and can guarantee i will not be recommending or purchasing another xplodia Z3

Welcome to the community.

The Xperia Z3 uses heat tempered mineral glass, the same glass that is in most devices. There is no known issue that would cause the glass to crack without any kind of external force. If you can post an image of the device here some users may be able to help you identify the point of failure on the screen.

With that said, there's no special thing you need to do to keep the phone safe. Obviously, I may be a little bias here, but I have owned several Xperias, including the Z3, and have not experienced a broken display.

You can always try third party protective cases, however Sony Mobile are unable to guarantee a non-Sony product will perform as advertised.

Use a case. Get a tempered glass screen protector. Don't put the phone in a tight pocket. You'll be fine. I've had mine 14 months. Not so much as a scratch on the bezel.

It would be handy if the submit button in the Email contact form worked and I could actually get some support.
I need a solution to an unresponsive screen after only finding solutions requiring a working screen.
I can't even unlock the device using PC Companion to retrieve files saved internally. This is extremely counter-intuitive.
How hard would it be to have a screen that replicates your lock screen, so that you can at least access vital data via a connected PC before repairing the device?
Especially when Sony devices are well known for failure of the screen at the slightest damage.

After chatting with support today, I was informed that a USB Mouse connected to an OTG Micro USB cable (Female USB to Micro) will provide an on-screen cursor - enabling me to unlock my device and back up to the PC.
This will only work if you can see what's on the screen. 

I think this is amazing and I feel that everyone needs to know that this is an option when you're no longer able to use the touch feature.
