Contacts not showing

When i dial the name of the contact, i do not get the person whom i want to contact but when i search for the contact from the contract list, that individual is visible.

Why is this happening?

Try settings-apps-all-contacts,force stop and clear data. Make sure to have a backup of your contacts.
