Contacts not showing FB pictures from people with Google account

Hi,

I have a SK17i Mini Pro and I absolutely love it. However, I came across with a problem with the contacts recently.

I have sync'd my contacts with both Google account and Facebook account, how incredibly handy... Now, the thing is, when I choose a person from the contacts and slide to the right, the phone usually shows the person's Facebook pictures, and the person's FB likes on the next slide. Some time ago I noticed that this did not happen when I chose someone with a Google+ account. I only got "No pictures" and "No likes" even though I knew they had pics and likes in Facebook.

The Google account owners' contact profile pictures seemed to come from Google rather than FB as well. There is even the Facebook logo "f" at the bottom of the picture / like slides so one should expect them to come from FB.

As usual, when I tried to fix this, I only made things worse. I re-sync'd with FB, didn't help. Then I logged out from Facebook app and logged back in, picked "sync all" and now there's a new problem. No contact pictures at all apart from the people who have a Google account! I can set their contact profile pictures manually, but I really liked the automatic FB sync there.

Otherwise things are as they were, Facebook pictures can be found on the slide, but only when I select someone without a Google account.

A) How can I set the contact pictures to be fetched from FB?

B) Is there a setting where I can choose the contacts to always search for pictures and likes from Facebook, not from Google?

Does this problem have something to do with the fact that I temporarily installed the Google+ app to my phone at some point until I realised that I don't need it?

A) Are we talking about the contact picture or the Facebook albums/tagged photos? You should try to log out from the FB app, log back in and then choose the "sync with existing..." instead of sync all.

You should also go to Settings > Accounts & sync > Facebook inside Xperia. Make sure the categories are active here since this is the feature that syncs the albums and tagged photos.

B) If you have auto-sync and allow background data active, this is done automatically (Settings > Accounts & sync). Google and Facebook works the same on this matter.

I'm not sure if G+ might have caused this. Not heard of that before. If you want to, try to uninstall it before you re-do all these steps above and then let me know.

A) We are talking about the contact picture. Facebook albums / tagged photos do show up but the contact profile picture does not change itself to FB profile pic automatically as it used to do. The pictures of people with G+ account have changed to their G+ profile pics. But these guys' FB pictures or likes can't be found.

I tried logout-login, "sync with existing", doesn't work any better. Then I tried "sync all" again, no help. Facebook inside Xperia is on and everything is synced, calendar, contacts, galleries. I've connected with WiFi and always waited until the sync symbol has disappeared before checking the situation.

B) Auto-sync is on and background data is active.

The funny thing is that I uninstalled G+ app after about 1 hour from installing it when I realised how much space it was taking and how little I actually needed it. So I do not have the G+ app installed to my phone, still the phone seems to prefer the Google account over the FB account.

Another thing is that the Facebook galleries don't seem to appear to the Gallery now, apart from "new from friends". I recently updated to 4.0.2.A.0.62.

Strange.

If you longpress on one of these contacts you can tap on 'Combine contact' in the popup. If you do this, will it go with the other picture?

It may very well be that the phone prioritizes the Google accounts photos above Facebook's and that you would need to flash the phone or at least remove the Google account to get this working differently.

I've got the same problem with my Xperia pro. It started when I sync my contact with google (after sony ericsson announce that is own service will end). After that, i have not been able to see the contact picture sync with the facebook one. There is only few contact that were able to have the Facebook indise xperia features ( pictures, interest, etc) but they doesn't have the contact picutre.

Sony ericsson suggest us to sync our contact with google, but that remove some features! it's bad!

Hello again,

I am facing a new problem now. I was getting used to no profile pics in the contacts, however 1 or 2 of them appeared there during the last weeks for some unknown reason.

Anyway, yesterday I had some trouble with the Facebook app and I logged out. I've done it before with no trouble.

When I tried logging back in, it said "Facebook authentication failed". Over and over again. So I deleted the cache and all application data from all facebook-affiliated applications I could think of, brought the fb app version back to the original, changed my fb password with my laptop, deleted both fb accounts from the phone and tried again, no help.

It seemed to log in with the old app version but kept prompting me for the password. It did the same thing before and after changing the password.

So I reseted the phone back to the factory settings and started all over again but the problem persisted!

The funny thing is that the phone is logged in to facebook all the time. I can watch fb pictures from the gallery and even the profile pictures are now the fb pics as desired but I can't use the facebook app. It keeps telling me "facebook authentication failed". However the connection works, I tried sharing a piece of text with "search or share" and even though the error message appeared again and it kept asking for the password, the text went through to my fb wall.

Any idea what to do? Is there some sort of "the right order" to delete all facebook information from the phone and then start over?

Hi friends, After doing many things, got the possible solution.

Steps are as follows:

1. Uninstall all updates done to Facebook app. Keep the version which came pre-loaded on your phone hard coded.

2. Login to your accunt.

3. For sync option, select "sync all" contacts

4. On Home screen go to "Friends" icon.

5. But just syncing all fb friends and going to 'friends" icon, wont sync the pics.

6. By default all the friends pics are blank, keep the app page open until all the friend pics appear there. These pics only will be sync'ed.

7. If you do not wait till all the pics appear, then only those fb pics will be sync'ed in phone contacts which are loaded in the app..

I don't know if latest FB app has the bug or pics sync only happen with the pre loaded version of FB app. My default version was 1.3.2. you can check if your pre loaded app has newer versions and still after following this pics are sync'ed.

Even I was facing the same prob, I tried so any times again and again... wasted a lot of my time enabling and disabling sync for other accounts..

Finally it worked.  I would suggest other users also that the above method works 100%.

Thanks, man. Even now, whenever account authentication failure happens on my experia, I still have to uninstall all the updates and sync all contact images, by the default FB app version, then only I can update app again to latest version. only Re-Authentication in latest version of app doesn't work. You have to go back to ground zero and start over.
