Contact information takes too long to display.

I have just recently obtained a Sony Z1, my first android phone. On the whole I am pleased with it but there is a major problem with it when trying to phone someone via the contacts, it just takes an age for the contact number to display. When i click on the contact app, it can take about 20-30 seconds for the contact names to appear and then when i click on contact name it can take 2-3 minutes for the numbers to appear! This can cause much amusement for friends with iPhones but is pain the A*** for me.

I assume it's something to do with the way the phone syncs with google contacts. Is there anyway to fix this?

Do you face similar slowness for any other application? If yes, install a cache cleaner application like Clean Master.

I haven't noticed a similar problem with and other app but I will try the cache cleaner.

I have installed and run clean master but it still takes an age to display contacts.

It's almost as if the contacts are being downloaded (from Google contacts?) each time I want  to access them, instead of being there on my phone. This can't be right can it?

Ensure your phone has the latest firmware if so try to repair the phone software through Sony SUS ( ensure you have taken backup of your contact) and if the results is same even after the above steps take your phone to Sony service center

Thanks for your reply but I can't spare the time and inconvenience of sending phone of to Sony. I have managed to fix problem by downloading and using the excellent contacts+ app instead of  the standard, buggy ,android contacts.
