Hi
My S won't connect to my Alpine car stereo using USB, My old Nokia would do it fine, and I think other android phones will do it.
When connected, the Stereo says "Device Error" immediately when connected, it should say "searching" [for audio files]
The phone doesn't even charge from the connection, it is as if the phone has no idea it's been connected. The only thing I can find is that in the battery usage screen, the "Time on battery" resets when I connect the usb connector, but it definately doesn't charge, and won't play files obviously.
Anyone have any ideas if there is a setting or app for this to work?
Cheers
This could be to do with the phone connecting in MTP mode as opposed to the older and more commonly used mass Storage Mode. At this stage I am not aware of a way around this sorry.

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
So do you suppose a different model stereo may support this? Or could there be an option in future software in order to do this?
Thanks
A little update
I've updated to ICS and now the phone will charge, thinks the stereo is a charger, so I'm half-way there now
