Connection Issues

Hi all,

now I've had my phone for a while and there's been no real issues connecting to the internet - until this weekend.

I can't seem to get it to connect again - even though the signal to connect to is excellent.  I can't understand it and it's very frustrating - almost to the point where I'm wondering if there's any point in having a phone.

If anyone can help I'd be really really grateful!

Hi,

Could you please elaborate? Are you referring to the mobile data? Did you do something special when the internet connection stopped? Have you tried to download new internet settings via Settings > Xpera > Internet settings?

I'm talking about trying to connect to the internet through the wi-fi on the phone.

I'm not sure if I HAVE done something special or not - I'm a bit confused by it.

I have just downloaded internet settings (I already tried earlier) but still no luck!  I tried my Facebook app and my Instagram app and they say can't connect now - even though I seem to have a full connection!

Okay, if you go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Does it say "Connected" to your Wi-Fi network? Have you tried to long press the Wi-Fi network and chosen "Forget" and then try to connect again? Does this happen to all networks or just one specific?

Hmm that's odd - I was looking at what you said and then I got a Facebook notification that said somebody had posted something!

I thought "Ahh I must be connected" however when I clicked to check it took me to the Facebook App and then said "can't connect"!

Anyhow yes it DOES say I'm connected to the Wi-Fi Network.

I tried the forget network but I can't seem to get it back working again.  well not that it was working anyway.

Maybe I've altered a setting but I'm not aware of it.

Another things is when I go through a browser the message "Your connection is not private" comes up - which never did before!

Does any of that help?

Is this your home Wi-Fi network or a public network? Because it sounds like the network that you are connected to is not protected/encrypted and therefore, why you receive the message that it's not private. Is it an open network?

In the FAQ-topic that I posted previously, did you check the part for "Connected but no Internet access"?

It's on my home Wi-fi AND my work one -  it was fine before the weekend - the top bar keeps flashing"Wifi-Networks available" - then that goes off then comes back then comes back etc etc!

I never had any of this trouble before the weekend - I had noticed I'd accidentally recorded a load of audio onto my phone when it had been in my pocket so maybe I altered so other settings by accident!

You see I keep getting the notifications at the top telling me I have Facebook notifications but when I click on them to open Facebook it can't actually connect to Facebook - even though it tells me I have notifications - again this is all since the weekend!

There must be something I can do?

P.S. When I try to look through web pages through a browser it says "Your connection is not private" which it has never done before the weekend!  Does that help?  It also says something about "Media server" but it keeps flashing off so quick that I can't catch it!

I suggest that you forget all the networks that you are connected to via Settings > Wi-Fi. Now tap at your home network again >

Enter password > Connect > Stay on the Wi-Fi page and check if it's connecting/obtaining IP-address and then says Connected.

The messages that you are talking about, Wi-Fi networks available: will only be displayed when there is an open network close to you. An open network, can in some cases have restrictions when it comes to the connection or require that you sign in to a web page before you can access the network.
Your connection is not private: Is received when you are connected to an open network, this connection is therefore not private since anyone can connect to the network without password.
This sounds like you are connected to a public network with restrictions. Do you get any other notifications when you are connected?

You can check if Media server is on via Settings > More... > Media server settings > Share media.
