Computer is getting hanged during update (prepare stage)

I tried to update my xperia p using both pc companion and sus.But every time my pc(core 2 duo) gets hanged after prepare stage.It is my first update.I tried about 5 or 6 times.Same thing is happening again and again.Guys pls help.

Did you check the system requirements?:

Internet broadband connection

Intel® Pentium® 4, 3.6 GHz or equivalent AMD processor

500 MB free hard disk space

2 GB RAM

1 available USB 2.0 port and USB cable

Microsoft® Windows XP™ SP2 (32 bit), Vista (32/64 bit) or Windows 7 (32/64 bit)

My suggestion is that you try updating on another PC.

but in the sony's website they are saying that the system requirements for sony update service are these-

• Internet connection (preferably broadband)
• USB cable
• Intel^® Pentium^® 4, 2.0 GHz or higher, AMD Athlon
• 500 MB free hard disk space.
• 512 MB RAM
• 1 available USB 2.0 port
• Windows XP™ (Home or Professional) with SP2 or later.
• Microsoft^® Windows Vista™ (32/64 bit).
• Microsoft^® Windows 7 (32/64 bit). and my pc has all of them

You also can update OTA from your xperia P to 6.0.B.3.184 only 10.2 MB, without any pc..

Mine is a 1.83 GHz, 1 GB RAM, but still worked for me

but my phone is saying that i can only update through pc companion.I think ota update is not avialable in my country.

Hi All,

Even my pc hanged during the prepare stage, and also if I try to create a backup of device.

I tried it on a machine which have windows XP/ Windows 7 installed on same machine nad which meets the minimum requirements, and in both operating systems it hanged.

I tried it on a new i7 windows 7 pc, and even that hanged while the prepare stage, this suggest it is not pc specific.

I there any way to update my set except of factory resetting it before update, cause i dun't want to loose my data and even can't backup???

the OTA option is not available in India for this update.

Go to software update>press system>press option>choose search for updates

is it true India cannt OTA update for xperia p?

Have you ever flash your xperia p before?

at last ota update came to my country and I updated it.So who needs pc companion now?Ty very much guys for trying to help.

try to download the PCC or SUS installer again and re-install it on your pc.
