Hello,
I have Sony Xperia Arc LT15a with android version 2.3.4
When I first bought the phone a year ago the compass was working fine.
In the past month I noticed the compass has stopped working, i.e. is not rotating/ moving at all.
This is seen at all apps, including GPS Status, Compass ...
I tried (as I seen in other posts) to go to the service test : " dial *#*#7378423#*#* service test>compass", and do a calibration, but this didn't change anything.
What else can be done?
Best regards,
Doron
Have you tried running a repair?
1. Before you start you have to download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Once installed on your PC, double-click the PC Companion icon on your desktop to start the update.
Note! For some models you will be prompted to do a backup prior to the update and then restore.
3. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
4. Phone Software Update.
5. Start.
6. Repair Phone
7. Continue
8. Accept data removal
9. Next
10. Wait for prepare
11. Select Phone
12. Follow the connection steps

Thank you Sam, I will try that.
I always thought of running a repair as a last resort (since it says it will remove all data), but I guess there are no other options...

Hello again Sam,
I tried to run a repair, but it did not work - the compass is still not working at all.
Do you have any more ideas ?
Perhapse this is a bug in my build version ?
I have 4.0.2.D.0.5, which is not the latest one published in sony's website, however my phone and the PC companion seems to think thi is the latest version.
Thanks,
Doron
