As soon as I bought the phone, I researched and ended up buying 3 different cases for it, only one of which offered reasonable 'drop' protection. When I shot flash photos, they were overexposed on the left side. Sony said there were no reported problems with the flash, so I experimented and removed the protective case. Problem solved. Two vendors seem to be offering the same case on Amazon - OEAGO and MoKo - which has a dual layer (inner sleeve and back cover) and a 'kickstand'. I've not yet tried the other cases which are more for cosmetic protection.
the problems lies on the design of the protective cases which are made by 3rd party manufacturer. so its best that you inform them of the problem,. since there is nothing sony can do about the design of the phone already, well they can reccomend to you to use their own covers.

Thanks for the llink - but it refers only to the Z5 Premium. I have posted my caveat on the Amazon product listing page and also emailed the details to another retailer whose product is identical, and mentioned it here in the Forum just as a heads-up to others like me looking for a reasonably protective case for the phone. I have since tested one other case (from Ringke) which is essentially a cosmetic protector and there's no problem with the flash using it.
