I brought the phone on last sunday. (16/9/12)
Unfortunately, my phone have defective touch screen & only respond to may be 75% time of total usage.
For remainig 25% time it ignores the touch. Some times i have to tap 4-5 times for a function.
Its very irritating.
Shown to dealer & service center for the problem & they were unable to solve it.
Said they will replace the entire phone with new one.
Also noticed at service center that there were 4 Tipo phones which have similar problem to mine.
Did anyone got the same problem ?
Is there any cure without replacing the phone ?

I bought xperia a week ago and now Im having problem with its touch screen, Ive already brought it to the service center, they just replace the board saying that there's no problem with the touch screen but with the board but still it doesnt respond accordingly.. They just told me to wait for the replacement of parts coz they dont have any stocks 
i have same prblm with my xperia tipo purchased on 2 Oct.
Touch screen problem is common in Xperia Tipo. You can got to service centre and install touch screen caliberation. This will help you..
problem related to this sony tipo is very common i went to the service center after 2 days of purchase initially they deny to replace saying sticker on the box is little bit torn when i resist they agreed. i am unable to understand that sony gives guraantee of Mobile handset or its cartoon box.
A very common problem in sony tipo Sony mobile has to come forward and do the needful at the earliest.
Dear Customers Dont Buy Sony Mobiles.....Go to Samsung...
frankly speaking, xperia tipo is the worst product i ever encountered with n sony has provided me with the worst kind of service a company can ever can , my touch screen problems creeped up 3-4 times within the warranty period . i took the product to the service centre n every time they kept it for a few days and then returned to me, saying the problem has been coped up. now my warranty period has expired n i am again facing the same problem n all they have got to say is .....sir may be now its a hardware issue n u will need to pay at the service centre to ge it fixed. my suggestion, never buy tipo rather try to avoid sony even......coz me...i am just fedup now.....
