Charging issue

Hi,

Can you confirm charging options for my Xperia Z2 please - my phone will only charge from the supplied charger - similar and higher rated chargers do not charge my phone - neither does connecting it to a USB port of a PC, regardless of what connection option I choose - MTP, charging only, mass storage mode etc.

Should I be able to charge from a standard USB port, I know it should charge, albeit slower due to lower amp rating that the supplied charger.

My issue is that when trying to charge from anything other than the supplied charger, it's like the phone is connecting / disconnecting from the charger - the light at the top of the phone flashes, and the charging symbol briefly appears, then disappers, and that cycle repeats.  The battery infact discharges quickly when left connected in this state, and the phone gets hot.

It can also be charged from the dock connector without issue.

Thanks,

Mick

can you try to charge while you are in safe mode?

this seems to be a hardware problem try to contact your local service center Local support

you should be able to use any simillar power cable/charger as long as they conform to the safety standards, though there are some usb cable that only charges or only accepts data transfer, also check with other PC.

try to hold the usb port while connecting the charger. it might be loose or not connected tightly.

Cheers nolramlb...
I've already Googled and know there's numerous people with similar issue, although I don't think I've seen anyone say they can charge OK with the supplied charger...

It doesn't charge in safe mode either by the way, and definitely not a loose connector issue - forgot to mention, the phone does charge if it's switched off... Strange I know!

I have insurance that covers faults as well as damage etc, but I just wanted definitive answer as to whether it should charge from any USB source in case they try to say there's nothing wrong with it add it charges OK from the supplied charger...

Cheers,
Mick
