Changing USB Connection type

I was hoping if any one could shed some light on a backup problem of mine.

To prevent any future disasters (relative to siblings especially), I wish to backup all the app data on my phone (eg game progress etc). For this purpose the app "Helium" came as highly recommended, specially since my phone is non-rooted. I downloaded and installed both the pc program and the android app.

The problem arose when I tried to set up sync between the two. At one point i was told to change the usb computer connection to ptp mode, but everytime i do, it changes back to mtp mode. I tried contacting the app developers, with no luck. Any ideas?

PS, so far, i can only acess usb computer connection when directed to it from the helium app. I can't find the option from settings. Does anyone know where it is ????

I'll be truly grateful if anyone can shed some light on the problem.

You can change the USB-connection mode from Settings -> Xperia -> Connectivity -> USB connection mode. MSC will however only work if you have a microSD in the phone. The phones internal storage can only work in MTP-mode.
