Changing APN settings

Hello all, I'm going to America in November and I've ordered a simple mobile sim card for when I go, I have to change the APN settings manually but everytime I try to enter and save them they dissappear!! I have narrowed it down to changing the MCC number, everytime I enter 310 and try to save it it deletes the whole thing. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

Andrew

Have you been entering all the details while you UK SIM is in the handset, or the U.S. one?

Hello, I've been entering the settings with the UK sim as I don't have the US 1 yet but I do see where you are going with this. But surely it should still save? I'm not trying to use them just trying to have them there ready. I've done a bit of research and have come across phones being blocked by region, is it possible Sony have done this and is it possible for them to remove it? I've tried 3rd party apn apps but they don't seem to work on the latest android.

I just tried to do it on my mates Galaxy S5 and it is doing exactly the same thing! Grrr.

Well I got in touch with Sony and they have said it's not them that would put a block on it as it should work anywhere in the world, it would be the network provider. So I will contact Vodafone and see what they say. I'm updating this just incase anyone has the same issue 1 day.

Yup, it sounds like the network lock on your phone is preventing you from saving the APN settings and I think when the U.S. SIM arrives, you'll unfortunately find that it won't work. Let us know how it pans out with the SIM thought.

I did the *#*#737..etc number and checked my sim lock, the phone is completely unlocked! Not sure whether it could be a android issue? I've read somewhere that 'apparently' android only shows the APNs that can be used at that time, so if I tried it in America the APN I saved would show up as it's currently 'hidden'. Not too sure about that 1 though.

Just wait till you get the US SIM then try it.
