Hi, the phone loses cellular network connection from time to time and the only way to fix, once it occurs, is to either put the airplane mode on/off, or to restart the phone. Sometimes, the phone reported full signal even though there is no cellular network connection. This does not happen when the network type is set to GSM, but then the data connection would be very slow. I have tried to replace the SIM card a few months back but that does not solve this issue. Please help.

Do you have a data plan? Do you have the correct APN settings? Have you contact your carrier/network regarding network coverage and/or network issues? Have you repaired your phone with PCC or SUS?

Yes, I have tried all those but still did not fix the issue. I even tried restoring the phone to bare-bone Android only and the problem still persisted.
Since you have try everything
New SIM card, SUS, PCC, the only alternative is to take it to a Sony repair center as it might be a hardware issue.
I have an Experia P and just switched from T mobile to ATT this week and started having the same problem. I will have full bars and can't make a call or send a text. Only turning off will allow me to make 1-2 calls, then the same thing reoccurs. I also can't pick up any wifi even when standing next to the modem.
