Cannot type some keys from the keyboard

Hi,

Recently the keyboard is acting weird. When I put my finger on '1' and 'q', it cannot type out the character. Even the 'shift' is not working. But the rest of the keyboard seems fine. Looks like the left edge screen is spoilt but when i exit the keyboard and it seems ok to scroll that area. I cannot type '1' which is really annoying. Please help.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Are you using the preinstalled Xperia Keyboard or have you installed another keyboard? Does this appear in all applications or a specific one?

You could try to clear data for Xperia Keyboard via Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Xperia Keyboard.

I would also suggest that you boot your phone into safe mode to see if you experience the same behaviour:

Hi,

I am using the xperia keyboard. Tried the steps and still not able to type the keys. I think the touch screen is not working for the entire left hand column, about the width of key '1' cos when i rotate to landscape, I can type '1' since the screen keyboard now is on the right side. I wonder what's wrong...

If the problem persist, I suggest that you perform a software repair on your phone via Update Service:

Download and install SUS at your PC, follow the instructions that appear.

But if the issue remain, you should visit nearest service center to have your phone examined by a techincian. You can contact your local support team for further information about nearest service center and/or how to proceed with this in the best possible way:
