Cannot edit my contacts on my XZ-phone.
The contacts are downloaded from a exchange-server.
This was no problem when I had a Z3.
HELP??
This gave me grief too. I worked out eventually the difference between an Outlook account and an Exchange Server account ( you need to have both ) . If you already have the Outlook account then In the contacts app, add Exchange server acount, then it will all be good.
Hello @Jarle and welcome to the community!
Are you experiencing the same behaviour if you attempt to edit a contact stored locally in your phone? If not, it sounds like the exchange-server you are connected to does not authorize that contacts can be edited from other sources.
To create a locally stored contact, open the contacts app > Press the + > Select the "No backup" option > Make sure that it says "Phone contact" under the Last name field before you save this contact. Are you then able to edit this contact?
Are you able to edit the contacts for your exchange-account if you are logged into your account using the internet browser in your phone? It's also possible that you might be edit them using Microsofts own application Microsoft Outlook, which you can download from Google Play here. Note that since this a third party application I will be unable to provide you with app-specific settings.
Let me know how it goes!
Tried, but it did not work.
I miss my Z3
Sorry to hear that it didn't work.
I'd recommend you try rebooting your phone to safe mode, are you still unable to edit locally stored contacts in your phone? Or do you mean that you were unable to edit your Exchange-contacts while logged in using the internet browser in the phone?
Are you able to edit your contacts if you log in to your e-mail account using a computer instead of your phone? Preferably using the internet browser in your computer.
Let me know how it went!
Tried to reboot. Did not work. Could not edit numbers on phone.
I can without any problem edit my number on the computer.
I'm assuming you mean you still are unable to edit your Exchange-contacts, or do you mean that locally stored contacts can not be edited as well? If that is the case I would recommend that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. Do note that this will reset the phone, you can however create a backup directly in Xperia Companion.
If you are able to edit your locally stored contacts and it's just the Exchange contacts that cannot be edited it sounds to me like the Exchange-server you are connected to does not allow you to edit your contacts using apps that aren't their own. I would recommend that you contact your server provider about that.
Keep me posted.
