Cannot connect Xperia S to pc via USB cable

Hi folks,

As per the title: I installed the latest Xperia S system update this morning and now I cannot manage the files on my phone through my PC.

I've tried turning the computer and phone on and off again

Turned 'USB debugging' on and off

Forced stop of MTP extension service

I've seen a suggestion on these forums to clear the MTP app through Settings - Applications - Manage Applications - MTPapp, but I don't seem to have those options: I get to Settings - Apps, then there's a list of Apps and I don't have the option to manage them.

Any suggestions how to clear the MTP data, or otherwise manage my phone's files on my PC again?

Cheers,

Mereven

If you're running on ICS it looks a bit different.

Settings > Applications > All > MTPapp.

Try clearing data for that app and reconnect.

Let me know if problem remains.

Hi Johan,

I found an app in that location called MTP extension service; I forced stop on it but the problem still remains :smileysad:.  The boxes to clear data/cache on the app were greyed out.
