Cannot cancel 'connecting to PC wirelessly' notification

I have just set up Wireless Media Transfer on my Xperia Z3 Compact running Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop?); the set-up worked fine as did the subsequent file transfer activities.
However, I now get a notification 'connecting to PC wirelessly' all the time (if the PC is shut down or I am away from the house) and I cannot close the message.
If I tap the message, then I get an option 'cancel connection' but even when this is clicked, the notification persists; it doesn't even go away for a few minutes and then reappear... It just won't go away. It is not helped by the fact that as I move about the house the Xperia changes it's mind about whether to use the router'so 2.4GHz or 5GHz band whereas the PC is fixed to the latter.
I know that I can tell the Xperia to 'forget' the PC but then I would have to re-establish the connectivity when I want to use it. As the setup process involves first connecting the two devices with a USB cable, this is pointless... I might just as well stay with USB.
Is this a bug with the software, or is there a switch somewhere that I can use to stop these annoying notifications? (I could not find anything in the 'App Notifications' area.)
