I hope someone can help me out. My Xperia z1 phone started rejecting calls on December 23 and is still at it. I cannot call out either but can use text messaging and Whatsapp. I tried shutting down and restarting, removing and reinserting the Sim card, no luck there. I also tried playing around with the networkn options ( GSM only etc) but nothing doing.I tried the barring function which now has completely blocked everthing. Trying to deactive call barring is giving this frightful error message " Call Setting Error- Network or SIM card error". Am round the bend.:smileywhew:

Try performing a system repair using Pc Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
You might want to get a brand new MICRO SIM card

Thank you. The rummy thing is I went to see my network carrier who found no fault with the phone (i.e. we made and recieved phone calls while in the shop). With call barring acftivated by the way :smileyconfused:Short lived joy. Went back to the old house and the phone is back at it again. No calls coming in or going out. And I acnnot deactivate call barring.
My lemon is rarther weak and this phone is giving the jives.

Thank you. I have performed an update and repair on the blighted phone twice and was able to make only 1 call each time from home. After that the phone reverts to its "call dropping mode" . The codes from the carrrier to resolve this issue wont help.
I am flustered to the extreme and being non-Italin speaking is adding to my chagrin. Seems nothing can be done save throw the phone away ( and money) and look for a more reliable service provider.

Hi, when you are at home do you get a good phone signal......strange that it worked fine at the shop but not at home, if you are out elsewhere does it work...sounds more Network problem than the phone...:smileyconfused:
I have a poweful signal and can actually call after resetting the blighted phone. I have just talked to the carrier who seems buffled by the whole thing. Have to wait for 3-4 days for their technicians to call me back. Wasted time, wasted effort
In the Call Barring Settings......are they all stated as Disabled.....did you initially have a barring Password? Is it possible for you to try another Sim from a different Network provider or even a different Sim/number from your provider....just to see if the same thing happens 
I'm having the same problem. last few days, I cant make calls/receive calls. Aditionally no video or sound playback.. Internet whatsapp etc works. Did all the system resets/updates both through phone/pc. Dont want to really have to send phone back to sony as itl take up to 2 weeks to get it back. Does it sound like a software conflict? ive rebooted in safe mode too. seems like a few people are getting the same problem. Seriously Sony?
