Cannot activate screen with unlock button

Hello there,

I've an intermittant fault with my Xperia T. Every so often I press the side button to unlock the phone but the screen doesn't activate. This happens at seamingly random moments including when I've been on Facebook, the Internet, made calls - it doesn't seem consistant. My only fix is to reset the phone till it happens again.

At first I thought the power/unlock button was faulty, but seeing as I have to use the power and volume buttons to reset the phone evidently it's working. However I'm fed up with doing resets. The first time this happened was during a call when I unfortunately went through to a friends answerphone - I didn't know how to reset the phone and was charged a small fortune as I couldn't hang up!! Eventually I complained to orange and had the charge refunded.

I used PC companion to restore the phone to the factory settings and went through the laborious process of setting up my phone, reinstalling all my apps, moving all my shortcuts into folders. The problem still happens, but became less frequent, ocurring once every few days rather than 2-3 times a day. I'd still like to get this fixed if possible though as we shouldn't have problems like this on a high end phone.

I've also been watching these forums but haven't seen many similar issues except this:

- However I don't believe it's the screen protector as this happens at completely random times ie not always after making calls.

Any suggestions? Could the phone be faulty or is it the software? Should I send it back for a replacement?

There could be a few things causing this, however do you have any task killers or battery saving applications installed?
