Can't view messages

Hi I've just bought the Xperia z1 compact, I've transfer all my contacts messages etc from my old iPhone, after trying to delete some messages from my inbox it's now not showing any or receiving any messages? Any help would be great as tempted to take it back and stick to iPhone, thanks

settings > apps > all > messaging > clear data

also make sure that your friends send you a regular text (SMS/MMS) and not an imessage
