@kurtred, could you try clearing data for the app? Note that this will reset the app and you will have to log in again. Go to Settings > Apps > All > Facebook > Press Clear data. After this is done restart your device and open the Facebook app. Can you log in now? If not I would need a more detailed description on what is happening in order to help you.

Could you also confirm what Android version your device is running under Settings > About phone?
