Hey there,
I must say what an awesome 4.0.4 update. Am really happy with it. People were exagerating with the slow phone behaviour and lack of smothness. But I did found some pretty nasty bugs:
- Every here and there the apps just crash especially GMail and most of all Play
- Camera app has huge problems
On my Arc the camera app sometimes just doesn't start and shows blank screen. After like 30 seconds the picture appears but with no controls. Just picture from the lense and pressing buttons won't help. Sometimes camera works until pressing record button. Then it just freezes and comes back to life after some time. And not to mention that the video recording got much worse. I get 26fps which means that it's just skipping frames. I have a Class 10 SDHC card so speed is not a problem. I would be really happy if we would have some control over the camera quality. Like compression. Video is so overcompressed. It doesn't look like a 720p, more like some 10x compressed YouTube video. Can someone please explain what's the barier? Is it the camera chip itself, is it the drivers. I mean simple logic would be: less compression = better image = faster processing = less frames skipped but = bigger file size. But that wouldn't be such a problem with a bigger memory card. It's just a shame that otherwise such good still pictures don't produce the same quality video. Compared to apple products it produces more of an "amateur" video.
you were using the same sd card before the update right ?
go to settings > app > all > camera > clear data and cache.
Yes but I cleared the whole SD card before update. After update I did repair "update" and then did a factory reset so I'm sure I cleared everything possible.
