There is still camera lag even after 0.96 update.

Photos come blurr for slight shake of any object.

12MP cameraphone is useless now.

SONY please   fix with update.

As uli said, please delete the double post you created...

Regarding your problems, well not everyone seems to be experience them...

For me .96 fixed almost every issue with previous updates...

3D Camera is not coming back, they should have not taken down... but thats the truth, notice how newer models like Z1 does not have this function...

The video lag is fixed, but I notice that the first couple of seconds of recording may lag or skip, but everything afterwards play smooth. (Also you might think it lags while recording, but its only the screen refresh, the video will look good, I checked, 1080p at 29fps and close to 18mbps)

Project Butter is there... but keep in mind this phone has a 3 y/o processor... I compared mine with my wife's Acro S on 4.0.4 before she updated... so it works... but it's not magic

Photos taken from this phone have always been tricky... specially in low light, but playing around with Scenes and keeping very still I think I have master the camera and it is quite nice...

Check this comparisson I did between my Acro S and my cousin's iPhone 5

Acro S: 9MP 16:9 aspect, Night Landscape Scene auto detected

iPhone 5: 8MP not many customization can be applied.

Acro S vs iPhone 5

Here are details...

iPhone 5 on the left           Acro S on the right

details

But to be fair, the camera IS SLOW... to open and to focus... iPhone 5, even 4s wins there...

Thank you for those comparisons dquilon, I had not seen any of these two until now.

Thanks Uli,

I think is going to be a while before I get to see an iPhone 5S in my country... and I am still waiting for a full review in GSMArena.com so I can get an idea.

In my opinion, the Xperia Acro S (maybe XS, XSL) is one of the best android camera phone of their time... The problem was that it is a bit tricky to get the right picture... and most people will not be patient enough to learn how to shoot a nice pic... Also the iPhone and Galaxies always get better marketing and sometimes better reviews just because popularity

Many times I have taken gorgeous pictures but then a friend offer to take a picture with my phone, and the picture looks plain bad... This happen because they are not use to hold it still, press the shutter softly... etc...

Anyway I still praise my Acro S for his camera, and I am glad to see it hold strong against current devices...

In my experience, it takes better details of pictures than Galaxy S3, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and it is comparable to 13MP Xperia V, T, TX... The con is that pictures usually are a bit noisier.

I would dare to say that the best Android camera phones TODAY are the Galaxy S4, LG G2, Sony Xperia Z1 and MAYBE iPhone 5s... we'll see.

Indeed, I had a hard time learning how to take better pictures with my Xperia S, as I was used to my Xperia Arc but after a while I'd figured it out, that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement (Sony)

Agree, of course there is plenty of room for improvement... perfection is never achieve but you can always get closer...

If I worked for the team behind Xperias Camera UI, I would try to implement:

- 60 fps for 1080p video recording (slow motion mode too, though our phones might be too old for this)

- 120 fps for 720p... (same)

- Full Resolution Panoramic pictures... (not just the 5MP crappy solution) this phone should be able to make ~40MP pictures by stitching full resolution panos... (My 2 y/o Moto Atrix did it and take 12MP panoramic photos out of 5MP camera)

- Burst Mode is missing

- AND really important that everyone is offering... Full Res Picture taking while shooting video... instead of the half bake option we have...

Anyway, even with that list missing, I have the same feeling as I do with Sony's UI across my device... It is not the most full featured, but it has a great balance of simplicity and functionality.

Sorry for getting carried away from OP's topic

I really apologize for stealing this discussion, but since I already did, I will hold on one more time to it to update it.

I finally got the comparison pictures from GSMArena.com review, and I can compare the iPhone 5s to our oldie Xperia Acro S... and to my surprise, the newest Apple iteration has little to show off over our Sony device...

Before posting the pics I have to say that both shots have been done in different lighting conditions, different time of the year and a slight different angle... but they are close enough to give an idea...

You can find the full size pictures here:

Xperia Acro S. GSMArena Review

iPhone 5S. GSMArena Review

I compared 2 pictures and cropped specific details to show how both performed.

The Xperia Acro S has a 12MP camera and aperture of f/2.4.

The new iPhone 5s still sports an 8MP camera but with a 15% bigger sensor and has an wider aperture of f/2.2.

First picture is a detail of the top of the Yellow Building.

Xperia Acro S (LEFT) - iPhone 5S (RIGHT)

Second is another detail of the chimney to the far right of the same picture.

Xperia Acro S (LEFT) - iPhone 5S (RIGHT)

Third is a detail of a Landscape.

Xperia Acro S (LEFT) - iPhone 5S (RIGHT)

Notice how you can see the fence on the Acro S, but you can't distinguish the bars on the iPhone 5s. To be fair, the light conditions here was very different.

The last picture is a detail of the same landscape where both shots show a shadow area from the picture. Notice that the iPhone 5s take smoother pictures but with less detail. The Xperia show more detail but with more noise.

Xperia Acro S (LEFT) - iPhone 5S (RIGHT)

Bottom line, both take great pictures. The iPhone has an advantage of being much faster taking pictures since the 4s, but even the newest iPhone does not outperformed our Xperia Acro S which is a couple generations behind...

Of course this is only a small comparison, the iPhone might be more suitable for other type of picture conditions... but in my personal preference, I rather have a small noise in the picture, but with more details to see.

Diego.
