Hi,
I have had my M4 Aqua for a week and I am happy with it. However, the camera doesn't focus on any distances longer than a couple of inches. Touch focus doesn't work, and neither does auto focus. I have managed to take one focused picture, and that was an extreme closeup.
I took the phone to my operator today, and the guy there checked that all settings were correct. Still, the camera doesn't focus. Pictures are completely blurred and so is what you see on the screen.
The front facing camera is crisp and clear.
The guy at the operatoräs outlet suggested they take the phone in to check it. But that means that I will be without a phone for some time, which is unacceptable to me. So I would be grateful for any ideas on how to fix this. Could it be a software bug?
I am looking forward to solving this with the help of this forum.
All the best,
Magnus in Stockholm, Sweden
A short update...
Sony may want to talk to Swedish operator 3 about how they handle their return and service policy, since, at least in my case, 3's actions reflect badly on Sony.
As it turns out, my operator (3) now admits that I should have been offered a new replacement in the store when I showed it to them, since I had had my phone for less than 14 days and it should have been considered a DOA. The guys in the store only offered me the option to return the phone to them for service and wait 10 business days for a repair. And so did 3's telephone support, even though I explicitly stated that I had had the phones for a week or two only.
Even after admitting on their Facebook page that they have acted incorrectly, 3 will not do anything to settle my issue, claiming to be unable to do so because they incorrectly sent my phone away for repairs.
Naturally, the behaviour of 3 casts a shadow on my opinion on Sony, since a Sony phone that was DOA is now treated as a simple and time-consuming repair.
Best,
Magnus
So I got my phone back today. At least the 3 speeded up the repair service, which is good. They have replaced the camera and the USB port. The camera seems to be working now.
I am kind of happy, all things considered. But what a lot of time it takes to configure your phone so you get it the way you want it, with various bank and payment apps etc...
Well, so far so good anyho.
Best,
Magnus
If you read the post you will see that I had to have my phone repaired since the camera was faulty.

I've had my M4 Aqua since November 2015. The camera did not work on delivery, so I had to have the phone repaired during the first weeks. Last week, the screen died. No amount of restarting made it come alive. So now my phone is away for repair for the second time in 8 monhts.
My previous phone was an Xperia M. It is still working perfectly after over 3 years.
My M4 Aqua is good enough when it works, but I think the quality is iffy.
