My camera keeps crashing, I have to restart the phone then I lose my photos

Can you try to clear data for camera app under settings-apps-all and restart the device?

Where are you saving the pictures? on the internal storage or an SD card?

If the instructions provided by Alexdon do not resole the issue please also try a firmware repair:

1. Before you start you have to download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Once installed on your PC, double-click the PC Companion icon on your desktop to start the update.
Note! For some models you will be prompted to do a backup prior to the update and then restore.
3. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
4. Phone Software Update.
5. Start.
6. Repair Phone
7. Continue
8. Accept data removal
9. Next
10. Wait for prepare
11. Select Phone
12. Follow the connection steps

Although it might not be this,
That's a common problem with fake SD cards.
Once they hit the (real) 2gb limit the camera app will still write to it thinking it's still got shedloads of storage left. But that's not the problem, the problem is when the app then tries to read the data back to show the thumbnail in the top right corner. Because the data isn't there the app then throws up an app crash because it is reporting back to the os that an unrecoverable error has occurred.

But as I said, might not be that and I would suggest trying what alexdon has suggested and if that fails try setting a different storage setting and if that fails....
