c4 screen issue when inside cover

my wife bought herself a flip cover for her new C4 today but as soon as she put it inside the cover the screen goes black and none of the buttons work anymore. Proximity sensor is working normally but when running the sensor test and then putting the cover on, the screen goes black and unresponsive again.

It sounds like it might be a compatability issue, like the case is obstructing the sensor. Is the case in question one that we make, like this?
