It would be great if someone does have an answer to this, but I think (looking at the Xperia P discussions) that there is a problem with the Sony Gesture / Swipe input under certain circumstances.
One is the google.com text box for entering a search query, and another is the add bookmark > name box.
The gesture input just stops functioning, as if it is not turned on. The keyboard works fine, and if you browse to a different place on the phone it will work again just like that.
I think this must be a problem with ICS on Xperia (U/P/....) since it is also true for the bookmark screen, rather than a problem with google.
Any suggestions? Or is there a way to submit a bug report - not that I see a new version of ICS bouncing out of Sony any time soon!
